Children's HOMES therapeutic model
Therapeutic, psychologically informed support for Action for Children’s homes across the UK.
We provide reflective practice, training, and consultancy to embed our HOMES therapeutic model and strengthen trauma and attachment informed care within Action for Children’s homes.
Action for Children Therapeutic Services offers a psychologically informed approach to supporting our children’s homes, grounded in trauma, attachment, and developmental theory. Through regular reflective practice, targeted training, and ongoing consultancy, we help staff understand behaviour, build relational safety, and provide consistent therapeutic care.
Our HOMES model brings together psychological formulation, therapeutic understanding, and everyday practice, ensuring that every child experiences a stable, nurturing environment where their needs are understood and their recovery is supported.
The framework is based around five key pillars to support children and young people in residential care:
- Helping to build and maintain connections.
- Outcomes focused and evidence based.
- Making sense together.
- Empowerment and 'working with'.
- Safe, stable base.
