Action for Children Therapeutic Services
Specialist trauma-informed support for children and young people, and the teams who work alongside them across the UK.
Action for Children Therapeutic Services offer consultation, training, direct intervention, and specialist services that help children affected by developmental trauma and attachment insecurity to heal and thrive.
We are a psychologically informed service specialising in trauma and attachment recovery for children and young people up to age 18. Across the UK, we support children, families, and professionals through consultation, training, direct intervention, group work, and specialist assessment.
Our approach is rooted in an understanding of developmental trauma and attachment insecurity, recognising how early experiences shape behaviour, relationships, and a child’s ability to feel safe. All our work focuses on building safety, strengthening relationships, and supporting recovery.
HSB/PSB specialist service
We provide a dedicated service for children and young people displaying harmful or problematic sexual behaviour. This includes specialist assessment, consultation, safety planning, and therapeutic intervention, helping networks understand behaviour through a trauma‑ and developmentally informed lens and supporting safe, confident care.
Therapeutic Services for Children and Young People
Our wider therapeutic offer includes trauma‑focused, attachment‑focused, and placement‑stability‑focused interventions. We work directly with children and young people, alongside their caregivers and professional networks, to build emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, and promote long‑term recovery.
Children’s HOMES Therapeutic Model
Across our Action for Children’s residential homes, we deliver a therapeutic model that supports staff to provide consistent, attuned, and trauma‑informed care. This includes reflective practice sessions, consultation, training, and ongoing psychological input to help teams understand behaviour, reduce placement disruption, and create safe, nurturing environments for children.
