A Creative & Nature‑Based Therapy Group for Young People
Creative Roots is a therapeutic group for young people aged 13–15 who want a safe, nurturing space to explore their feelings, build confidence, and discover new ways of coping. Blending creative arts therapy with the grounding benefits of nature, the group supports emotional wellbeing through expression, connection, and gentle therapeutic techniques.
Creative Roots is designed for young people who may be experiencing anxiety, low confidence, identity worries, or difficulties expressing themselves. Through a mix of artmaking, nature‑based activities, and simple wellbeing practices, the group helps young people:
No artistic ability or nature experience is needed — just an openness to take part.
Each session follows a calm, supportive rhythm. Young people might:
Sessions take place at Whistlewood Common, a private off‑grid woodland space featuring a roundhouse, outdoor kitchen, compostable toilets, and plenty of natural inspiration.
Creative Roots is facilitated by two experienced therapists:
Together, they create a warm, accepting environment where young people can feel safe, seen, and supported.
Young people who wish to attend can let their social worker know. For social workers, please see our Referral Page to download the referral form and supporting documents.
A short 20‑minute online introduction will then be arranged for the young person and their carer to meet the group leads and ask questions.
At the end of the programme, carers will be invited to a follow‑up session offering ideas and resources to continue supporting the young person’s wellbeing.
