Our mission

Empowering young people and supporting Therapeutic Parenting Teams

Our mission is to enhance and sustain the quality of therapeutic care environments.

How do we achieve our mission?

We achieve this by:

  • Giving children the opportunities to recover and thrive.
  • Collaborating with partner agencies to establish Therapeutic Parenting Teams for all children in care, helping key adults recognize the value and importance of their role in the child's therapeutic recovery journey.
  • Empowering children and young people in their own journey, helping them recognize their unique strengths, and equipping them with the skills and tools to reach their potential and maintain emotional wellbeing.

How is The DECC is commissioned?

The DECC service was recommissioned in 2025, funded by Joined Up Care Derbyshire (NHS) and Derby City Council. Any child in care living within the Derby/Derbyshire footprint can access the service and Derbyshire County Council remain an important stakeholder in the commissioning of the service.

In 2024 Joined Up Care Derbyshire completed a Needs Assessment in relation to the emotional health and wellbeing needs of children in care - you can read this here:
