Sue Connor
Hello! I’m Sue, a mum with a passion for music, theatre, travelling, and meeting new people. My energetic Dalmatian keeps me active during our walks—though sometimes it feels like she’s taking me for a stroll instead! Professionally, I serve as Head of Service for the Action for Children-led residential and community short breaks services, as well as the Targeted Safeguarding support service, which includes MST.
I am a qualified social worker with a MA in Early Years and Education, as well as a certified teacher in further education. My extensive experience spans statutory, community, educational, and voluntary sectors. Since 2014, I have worked in Northamptonshire and am deeply committed to the success of our services. I strive to ensure that our projects reflect the core values of ensuring every child and young person has a safe, happy childhood and the foundation they need to thrive, achieved through a collaborative team approach.
I have a passion for community work and value the power of networking, creating opportunities for people to connect, share ideas, and grow together. Seeing individuals and communities flourish is what drives me. I believe in building strong partnerships, fostering innovation, and championing inclusive practices that make a real difference. My goal is to inspire and support others so that, collectively, we can deliver services that transform lives.
Sharon Blount
Hi, I'm Sharon, in my spare time I like to play golf, always wanting to get better but enjoying the outside space. Other interests include puzzles, learning French (very slowly) and painting. Professionally I am the Community Development Co-Ordinator trying to strengthen our links with community services and to understand the available activities for children and young people with disabilities.
My background is Office Management, Service Co-Ordinator and Children's Services Commissioner. I am passionate about supporting families with children with disabilities and bring a range of skills to the job. Co-production is very important to me, we will not provide the right service unless we know what families want and need. Community development also includes overseeing communications including surveys, newsletters and the website.
Tracey Ashton
I am delighted to be joining the DECC and Action for Children as a Senior Business Support Officer following my move to Derbyshire. I have done many jobs over my career but all involving admin, customer service and finance. For the past 10 years I have worked with homeless and vulnerable adults and prior to that I spent 7 years working in schools. My last role was as Operations Manager for a community based charity in Aldershot. I am excited to learn about how the most vulnerable children in our society are supported.
I love studying and following on from an HNC in Business and Finance when I left school, I completed a Higher Diploma in English Local History with the University of Surrey and a Batchelor’s degree with the Open University majoring in history and religion as well as lots of vocational courses and qualifications.
I love to travel, visit museums, theatre, cinema and live music events. I also love to read, to go birdwatching and walk in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.
