Noticeboard - Bucks Activity Project
Organisations we work with
Thomley is a place for people of all abilities and disabilities. We bring disabled people, their families, carers and friends together with experienced and nurturing staff that understand their needs.
What do we offer?
Our site is spacious and secure, with an excellent range of fully-accessible facilities. Each day our friendly and experienced staff run fun and educational activities which cater for all ages and abilities. See our upcoming activities here.
Who can visit?
We welcome disabled people of all ages from babies to adults, and their families, carers or friends. We support people at any stage of their diagnostic journey, whatever their additional needs.
We offer regular days for disabled visitors and their families. We also offer focus days for Pre-school children, adults, schools, respite groups and the wider community when any family can join us to enjoy our facilities. For more information, or to book your visit call: 01844 338380 or email: [email protected] .
When can you come?
We are open 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, Tuesday to Saturday. In the school holidays we open on Mondays too. We also run evening youth clubs for disabled teenagers and take bookings for birthday parties and disability events. Take a look at our website to see when would be best to visit:
What does it cost?
It is important to us that anyone who needs our service can access it. Wherever possible we fundraise to subsidise costs but we also recommend that visitors make a donation as a small contribution towards their visit.
Our centre is just outside the village of Worminghall between Oxford and Aylesbury.
Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP) is a charity (CIO) that offers a unique range of adventurous, therapeutic and educational play activities in a safe, caring and stimulating environment, catering for both children and adults with all types of disability, however mild or profound. We offer opportunities and vital Respite breaks that support the families and carers as well as the special person they care for.
Our specialist indoor and outdoor play, recreational and learning facilities, are available to all children, teenagers and adults with special needs, whether they have a physical or learning disability, a sensory impairment, behavioural difficulties or autism, or whether they are socially disadvantaged or unable to make meaningful use of alternative mainstream provision. We provide unique support to its users, siblings, families and carers, including respite and advisory services.
Our Playground is an OFSTED-registered day-care facility built on a fantastic 2.5-acre site adjacent to the A4 in Taplow, near Maidenhead, which is open to children and adults with all types of special need, their families, schools, care homes, day centres, nurseries, playschemes and to other groups and associations supporting special needs people and their families.
The Playground is open to people with a special need and their families throughout the year. To keep the environment appropriate for everyone we limit numbers and so booking is essential at all times. For families of children with special needs we suggest a contribution of £11 per child, siblings under two come in for free, as do parents and carers.
For accompanied children under 12 with no special need, we hold Playdays for All every Saturday.

Accessible Outdoor Play Equipment
Our aerial runway (zip wire) has a specially-adapted seat to enable even the most severely disabled person to enjoy the thrill of zooming down the 40-metre wire at full tilt and bouncing into the air at the far end - safely secured by the harness, of course - their faces are a picture!
The ride can be as fast or as slow as you like - most of the youngsters tend to go for the former option! The adaptations to the aerial runway do not diminish the thrills for our more able visitors!
Our Playrooms are crammed with toy cars, train sets, building blocks, action figures, puzzles and all manner of games. We also have a huge range of sensory toys.
With a stunning view over the Lake, the Gold Annexe is a superb indoor space, offering an opportunity for creativity and imaginative play, with independent access to the Playground's outdoor spaces. Watch the weather change, marvel at the play of light across the ceiling on a sunny day, peer through the glass panel at the water below, or just enjoy the calm of the outstanding view.
