We're here for everyone in Cornwall aged 11-19 years. This age is extended up to 25 if a young person has a special educational need or disability (SEND).
Dear Young People, Parents and Carers,
We know how much you value our Kernow Connect service, so we want to let you know about important changes coming up at the end of March.
The contract we have with Cornwall Council comes to an end on 31 March 2026. This planned change forms part of the Council’s work to develop a modernised Youth Offer aligned with the recently published National Youth Strategy. This new offer will be directly shaped by the voices of young people and parents and carers alike in the coming months.
As a result of the contract ending, Kernow Connect, which was a collaboration between the Council and the charity Action for Children, will close on 31 March 2026.
Whilst Kernow Connect will close, the good news is that Action for Children will continue the groups in Camborne, Perranporth and Torpoint. These groups will run for 6 months from 1 April 2026 to 1 October 2026 as the Council shapes the new youth offer.
Both the charity and the Council are fully aware of the importance of this youth offer which has engaged with 2,000 young people so far this year. The Council is really keen to hear from young people and parents and carers to support the development of the new service in the coming months. We will keep you informed of all opportunities to play a part.
