Our 2025 Review

This year has been transformative for us. We launched Maison Saint Pierre House, introducing extra training flats and education spaces. We also added Action Mentoring to our offer and our digital presence reached new heights and most importantly we supported more young people than ever before.

What a great year 2025 was for our service and our service users! I am grateful to our brilliant team, volunteers, commissioners and donors, and our community for generosity & support making everything we do possible and creating real change for young people.

This service supported 67 individual young people this year. We focused on making Nightstop more accessible and strengthening mediation on the Island to help young people return home safely and prevent homelessness from taking place.

Nightstop was used 46 times this year which is the highest number of bed nights ever delivered in Guernsey, it was used in 64% of emergency accommodation we provided a significant increase on previous years. There were other highlight for Nightstop also as we secured grants to provide volunteers with additional training and social opportunities, boosting confidence and retention. Funding was also sourced to create new host home videos to give young people virtual and visual tours during inductions to nightstop increasing the numbers taking up the offer of Nightstop.

To enhance mediation, we brought UK Mediation to Guernsey for specialist homelessness prevention training for our team, we also extended this offer to colleagues in Exploitation, Early Help, Family Proceedings, and At Home in Guernsey recognising the importance having mediation skills across our community can have in preventing homelessness.

This service supported 38 individual young people this year, these young people were also open to our homeless service. Together with our partners at Maison Saint Pierre, we opened Maison Saint Pierre House, providing much-needed additional accommodation for young people. This incredible community project added six new flats and an education room, leased to us long-term at no cost. We’re deeply grateful to the Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands, the Guernsey Community Foundation, and the Social Investment Fund for covering operational costs to make this possible.

Our Havilaand Street site continued to thrive, housing 13 individuals throughout the year. Thanks to States Housing, we repaired a flat that had been out of use since 2024 and upgraded the building with new carpets, fresh paint, and improved courtyard furniture including an outdoor pool table! We also partnered with Guernsey Arts to empower young people to design and commission a mural for their space, showcasing true youth participation.

Beyond the physical space, we launched a new online resource hub on our website, a central, ever-evolving space for life skills resources. This hub helps young people succeed as tenants and partnered with our new education flat available to those working with young people in the community we can continue to better prepare them for independence.

Recognising the link between trauma and future substance use, we partnered with Public Health, a GP, and a clinical psychologist to host a community event and screening of Resilience, a powerful film about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), reaching over 500 attendees at St James.

Together with Public Health, we launched Guernsey’s pilot vaping support service for young people Quit Vape. Working with Buzz Creative, we created the Quit Vape brand, self-help tools, and motivational resources to help young people quit vaping. This innovative campaign even earned a Silver award in an international design competition, a proud moment for our team and partners.

Finally, we piloted Risk Avert, an award-winning UK school-based prevention programme. This initiative equips young people with the skills and confidence to make informed choices when faced with risk, reinforcing our commitment to early intervention and resilience-building.

Thanks to enrichment funding, each participant left with a book personally signed by the author a memorable experience that sparked creativity and a love of reading.
