About our service

How do I sign my child up?

To join our service, you need to be referred by a professional who is working with your family.

You will need to go through either Camden or Islington Local Authority who will assess your application to determine suitability for our service.

When can my child visit?

Saturday club: All Saturdays except for Saturdays before and after holiday clubs, 10am to 4pm for Islington, 10am to 3pm for Camden

Holiday clubs: Half terms, Easter, Summer and Christmas (days at Christmas can vary depending when schools finish, for Islington only) 10am to 4pm.

Frequently asked questions

Short Breaks services are an opportunity for disabled children and young people to have fun, gain independence, learn, and develop new skills, while families get to take a much needed break from 24-hour caring.

Every disabled child or young person and their family has the right to short breaks. Action for Children offers community short breaks in London Boroughs of Camden and Islington.

We need you to complete our registration forms which covers an overview of your child, photo and data consent, medication consent & medical card, sun cream permission.

EHCP- Education, Health, Care plan
Behaviour plan if applicable 
Dietary plans if applicable
Gastro Plans if applicable
Any specialist plans such as positioning

Your child will not be able to start until we have all of this information

When your child attends, they need to bring

- Healthy packed lunch - **NO NUTS,** no fizzy drinks, no chocolate

- Spare clothes

- Personal care items - nappies, sanitary towels

- Medications - emergency and daily if needs to be taken while with us (consent form needs to be completed for us to be able to administer

- Spring/Summer- sun cream (if not using ours - we need you to have signed consent form), hats, swim wear

- Winter -hats, scarfs, wellies - if your child will wear them

Clothes wearing & spare- have to be labelled

Cancellations done on the morning or when the bus rings you will still be charged to your budget due to the fact we book in staff to cover the number of children attending.

About us

Action for Children has been running After School and Holiday clubs for children with complex needs, ASD and other special needs in Camden & Islington since 2012.

Our team of trained and experienced staff support children to make independent choices about how to spend their time at the club. The scheme has a structure which enables children to feel safe and fully enjoy their time at playscheme.
